1839 Courthouse Museum
313 N Cass St
Berrien Springs, Ind. (details)
Description
Built in 1839, the
Berrien County courthouse now serves as a historical museum. The building and adjacent square is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Smaller in comparison to modern courthouses, the museum's architecture is designed in the classical Roman style.

The first-floor gallery houses exhibits focused on the historical foundation of Berrien County. Topics range from the pre-history environment through the Civil War and early county industry. Exhibitions larger than the museum are staged off-site at establishments such as the Orchards Mall in Benton Township.

School groups may receive guided tours of the courthouse, as well as participate in a mock trial of a historic case.

Open Tues-Fri 9 am-4 pm, Sat-Sun 1 pm-5 pm.
