Museum at Southwestern Michigan College

Description Located on the college's main campus, the museum features over 17,000 historic items from Dowagiac and the surrounding areas.
Visitors may view Potawatomi beadwork and pottery, products from area industry and hands-on science exhibits. The museum has the largest collection of artifacts from the Round Oak Stove Company in the nation. Round Oak was responsible for the town's growth in the early 1900's and, at the time, was one of the largest manufacturers of stoves in the world.
Another collection at the museum documents the growth of the college district through photo postcards.

Museum of Contemporary Art-Chicago

Description Founded in 1967, the museum has been a staple of downtown culture for nearly four decades.
In May 1991, the museum increased its size seven fold when it contracted German architect, Josef Paul Kleihues, to design a new home for
the collection, along with a bookstore, 300-seat theater, restaurant, library, and a terraced sculpture garden with a view of Lake Michigan.
Over 6,000 works of art are contained in the permanent collection, which is comprised of all forms of media.

Description Formerly located in the Charles A. Wustum Museum of fine arts, RAM outgrew the space it inhabited and is housed in a new building separate from the Wustum campus.
The focus of the 3,000 plus-piece collection is craftwork by international artists specializing in
ceramics, fibers, glass, metal and wood. Paintings, sculptures and works on paper are included to compare the varied mediums of crafts and fine arts.
Two current collections highlight works from Asian art. Toshiko Takaezu's Heaven and Earth exhibit has been critically recognized internationally and is on display through Jan 8. The second exhibit, East Meets West: The Contemporary Asian Aesthetic in RAM's Collection, runs through January 22.
